Best Golf Gloves 2025

The humble golf glove might not seem particularly important, but when you consider that your hands are the only part of you that touches the golf club and that the hand you’ll be wearing your glove on plays the biggest role in your grip, you start to realise why picking out the best golf glove for you is worth some thought.
There are thermal gloves designed to keep your hands warm in the winter, leather gloves to keep you cool and prevent sweat in the hot summer golf season, and all-weather gloves that can be worn year-round, but are best suited to cooler weather.
Not forgetting rain gloves, which are an absolute lifesaver if you play in wet weather. Rain gloves are specifically designed to help you maintain your grip while battling the elements. All of the best golf rain gloves grip better the wetter they are.
Wherever in the world you’re reading this from doesn’t dictate which golf glove you have to wear. Personally, I like wearing leather gloves all year round – despite playing the bulk of my golf in the North East of England- because of their premium feel, and I find they fit my hand better. However, you might play in a warmer climate, or only choose to play in pleasant weather, and have a preference for playing with synthetic, all-weather gloves because of their durability and versatility.
I’ll discuss considerations further in the detailed buying guide below the best gloves of 2025. Finding the right golf glove requires more thought than you might initially think, but once you know what you’re looking for, it becomes a breeze.
Some golfers treat golf gloves like tea; once they find a glove they like, they stick with it and don’t switch. However, other golfers are much less loyal and play with any glove in their bag, whatever’s on offer in the pro shop or whatever’s in stock on Amazon for quick delivery.
There isn’t a right or wrong with either approach, but making sure the glove fits and provides sufficient grip is always paramount. If Amazon is your chosen destination for stocking up on golf gloves, be sure to consult our guide to the best golf gloves on Amazon.

Many golfers can initially overlook the golf glove as an important piece of equipment, and they would be wrong to do so. The hands are the only part of the body that remain in contact with the club throughout the golf swing and are what keep you in control at all times, so a golf glove that can give you more grip in all conditions sounds rather important. What are the key things to consider when buying a new golf glove? See below for some factors to consider.
Which hand?
When starting golf, it can be rather confusing to understand which glove goes on which hand, so we’re here to help. The lead hand in a conventional grip is the one that has the glove on it. So, for a right-handed golfer, they would wear a glove on their left hand, and for a left-handed golfer, they would wear the glove on their right hand.
Size
Studies have shown that 98% of golfers wear a glove that’s too big for them. A golf glove should feel very tight when you first put it on. You shouldn’t be able to pinch any material on the palm or fingers. If you can cover all of the Velcro with the fastening tab, that’s another sign it’s too big. Don’t be alarmed if your brand-new glove feels a bit restrictive at first, it will loosen up within a few minutes or a few shots on the range.
Leather vs Synthetic
Leather golf gloves give the softest feel, which is why they’re preferred by most professionals and discerning amateurs. The downside of leather golf gloves is they don’t tend to last as long as synthetic ones, and they’re generally more expensive. Synthetic golf gloves are sometimes better in wet conditions, too.
Durability
If it’s durability you want, then a synthetic glove is the most durable and will last longer than a leather glove. You will sacrifice elements of fit and feel with synthetic, but you will have a glove that’ll last.
Finding a golf glove that has a great fit and feel is one thing, but finding a glove that’s also durable long-term can be hard. Nothing in golf is essentially cheap, and finding a glove that is durable, comfortable, and fits great for you can mean buying a variety of gloves until you find the right one.
Feel
Even though most gloves look the same out of the pack, they’re not. Like clothes, each glove will fit a hand shape slightly better than the other, and getting a comfortable glove is vital. If you’ve never played a round of golf in an uncomfortable golf glove, I wouldn’t! When you’re next trying on a glove in the shop, pick up a club and make sure it feels secure on your hand; you’ll thank me later.

How do I know when to change my golf glove?
The lifetime of a golf glove can vary depending on how many rounds you play and how you swing the golf club. It would be great to change your glove every few rounds, but financially, it may not be a smart decision, so I've explained some key things to look out for that may signal a time for change. It may sound obvious, but if you have holes appearing on the palm and fingers, as well as any tears to the seams. The glove loses lots of its qualities when it becomes shiny and worn down, and leather gloves will go shiny and also hard and dirty, which is a sure sign that the glove is at the end of its life.
